We just wanted to thank you for an amazing, beautiful and unforgettable excursion. Nita, Snip & Levi were extremely well trained and a joy to ride. As novices, this was definitely appreciated, especially by my coworker Bob. :) The trails were fun, the views were spectacular, the sunset was breath-taking and our guide Milton was great! We were also lucky enough to be able to get a glimpse of a deer buck and his female. For anyone thinking of horseback riding with Windwalker Expeditions, please don't hesitate ... you definitely won't regret it!!! Thank you again for our wonderful memories!!! Sincerely, Jennifer, Rebekah & Bob

My friend and I were on a cross-country road trip, and were excited to find Windwalker on the internet. We are both experienced riders, and were looking for an advanced trail ride with well-cared for horses. We called the woman Shelly who books the rides about 10 different times, and she was very patient and helpful as she worked with our ever-changing plans and our financial constraints. She reminded us that we needed to be ready for a summer morning ride no later than 7am for the type of ride we were planning to do, which was helpful because he had not considered how hot it would get for the horses later in the day. Initially, we were worried about the price, but when our horses arrived with competition-grade tack, new shoes, and a healthy appearance, we knew our money was being well-spent on the upkeep of some tremendously athletic Arabians. I appreciated that our guide Joseph was punctual, professional, and willing to lend half-chaps along with the standard equipment. Joseph was very knowledgeable about the local landscape, and he was able to answer every science question that I, a teacher, could fire at him. I appreciated his connections with each of his horses, and it was indicative of the overall high quality of horsemanship and care that are hallmarks of Windwalker. We enjoyed our walk-trot-canter ride, and were especially grateful for Joseph's willingness to stop for photo and video opportunities. I hope to be back in the are again to experience the desert as only Windwalker can facilitate. THANK YOU!

This is definitely NOT one of those boring horseback rides where your horse walks around in a circle with its head at the bum of the horse in front of you! It is truly a great experience! Our guide, Bill, and his lovely horses provided us with a breathtaking ride in the Tonto National Forest. Bill was very knowledgeable about the Forest, the horses and countless other things. He was a genuinely terrific guide. Like you, we didn't really know what to expect and were a little nervous about booking online etc - take my advice - book your trip now - you will be thrilled.

We had a great time visiting the ghost town of Humbug, Arizona. Few people ever get into this remote area because the private property is impounded by a locked gate. We breezed in with the Windwalker folks through some pristine Sonoran desert, navigating the Jeep down a deep canyon, and through a roaring creek, into Humbug, a hidden jewel. Many well-preserved 1930s buildings, machinery, and impressive stoneworks were in view, along with some ruined stone structures dating back to the original 1880s miners. We spent some time strolling around the "neighborhood," which held many photo ops and mysteries. David, the friendly caretaker, spent several hours explaining the region's geography, geology, and pioneer mining stories of the small settlement, as well as demonstrating how to pan for gold in Humbug Creek. We even found a few small particles of gold! Later, we safely ascended a white-knuckle road up into the surrounding mountains, taking in the incredible views, finally stopping at the Pero Bonito mine. Several shafts and tunnels are in the area, and we took a walk of surprising depth into an untouched mining tunnel where David showed us the evidence of successful mining there. It was amazing to consider how hard men have worked to extract precious minerals from deep within the Earth. A mountain lion even watched us (from a long, safe distance!) before disappearing. We definitely want to go back! Shane & Michelle Anthem, AZ

A Blast. Although I grew up riding extensively, I haven't been on horseback in decades and was pleased that nothing had been forgotten. The Quarter Horse I rode was great, never a hiccup. I have hiked the general area we rode, yet the numerous trails gave me the sense that I had never been in the area. Joseph knows all the trails and varies trips according to each rider's capability and desire. Windwalker is an obviously Professional group dedicated to giving their guests the best experience possible.

I took my husband for a horseback ride for our wedding anniversary. I even had him "arrested" at his work. He had no idea what to expect. We rode for two hours and had a blast. Our guide, Barry, was amazing!!!! I highly recommend this adventure for anyone looking for a fun, exciting experience. Windwalker Expeditions was a wonderful company to go with. They even had the champagne with the guide for us to open at a lookout to toast to our anniversary... Thank you Windwalker for the amazing horseback ride adventure..This was truly the best anniversary gift to give!!

As an experienced horse owner and rider, I had a fantastic time with Susie on a 5.5 hour ride on Arial on Feb 24 in McDowell park. It certainly more than met my expectations and was just like being out on my horse in the mountains where I live (Calgary, Alberta, Canada), with a girlfriend for the day. It was my first time in Scottsdale, and truly the highlight of my vacation. No other horse "rental" ride that I have ever been on came close to being the "real" thing like this was. Arial was a perfect lady, forward and willing (and in shape), but attentive and well-trained. Of course, I enjoyed the scenery and the location too. I have to say, I was a little nervous at first about going out in the desert with a "guide" I discovered on the internet!!! But, no worries the second I met Susie. I can't wait to come back another time and try another venue! Thanks too to Milton Joseph for the time he spent on the phone with me talking about the various venues and for matching me up with Susie and Arial.

The countryside is simply breathtaking and horseback was a perfect way to experience it. I am looking forward to a return trip with friends! Thank you to Barry, Smoke and Shelly!

I highly recommend this marvelous ride to experienced riders! My husband is an intermediate rider and I am very experienced, yet we were able to enjoy this customized ride together. We were each given a horse and tack equivalent to our skills and the guide was wonderful at giving me plenty of opportunities to canter and gallop on a very eager and fast horse, all the while keeping my husband at a slower pace. I cannot express how much we enjoyed the ride, the spectacular scenery and knowledgeable patient guide (Joseph).

My husband and I both enjoyed the drive out to Indian Mesa, the hike, exploring on top of Indian Mesa, and all of the information that Dan gave during the entire trip! We have traveled quite a bit and have done a variety of "excursions" but this is one of the best yet! We highly recommend this trip!!!!!

Hello there from frozen Alberta! Apparently we were the coldest place on Earth on Sunday at -45C. I'm not sure that I believe it but ... brrrr! So I am very much wishing we were back in Arizona. I just wanted to send a quick thank you to Debbie (& Tequila) for the lovely ride she took my husband and I on in the Tonto National Forest. I was very excited to get back on a horse after many years of not riding and I have to say was a little nervous of the talk of climbing "mountains" (being from Alberta and the Rocky Mountains - our definition of mountain is a little different) but we managed just fine. I enjoyed my time very much with Star - her little jumps over the gate were very sweet and she sure is a nice girl to ride. My husband Steve also enjoyed himself immensely and had a great time getting to know Cowboy. Debbie - we went to Harrold's Corral as you suggested - it was great! Thanks again and hope to see you again soon!

Joseph our guide was amazing! Patient, knowledgeable and fun, I can't wait till next ride we do. The horses we rode, Rocha and Levi were beautiful and just as patient as Joseph. I had never done a ride like that before, but being on Rocha, cantering through a desert wash was amazing - like I had gone to heaven.

I called for infomation, and although it cost a bit more than I had planned to spend, I have no regrets! Joseph and Suzie were great. They explained the saddles and bridles and made sure I was comfortable in the saddle. Since I was not comfortable with loping, Joseph went off with the other rider and Suzie led the way in a different direction with me. The scenery was incredible, the horse a dream, and the whole day memorable. This is something I will do again on my next trip west.

Hello from the Scottsdale Princess! Just wanted to share with you the GREAT feedback we received from our guests' after their adventure with you. Thank you for everything - Connie , Scottsdale Princess Concierge 4/11/99 Page 2 To Concierge Staff My wife and I wanted to go horseback riding and I told Gail that although we were not experienced riders, we wanted an "Arizona Experience" (don't know exactly what I meant by that). She arranged a 2-½ hour ride through Windwalker Expeditions. We met at Cave Creek Park. They were already there. Our horses were perfectly suited for our skill level and physiques. Our guide, Joseph, was very knowledgeable and friendly. He took us up and down trails around Carefree Mountain. It was one of the best times we had on horseback and truly got to enjoy an Arizona Experience on trails where Apache and Calvary ran; where pioneers mined for gold! It was just fabulous. We highly recommend Windwalker to your guests. Brad and Dean Haber - Mount Laurel, New Jersey April 5th 1999
