I grew up on a ranch in Northern California. When I was in high school my family moved to Phoenix, AZ. We were able to bring some horses with us. Unfortunately keeping horses in town is not as economical as having them run free in pasture. However, I usually had at least one horse.
I was the Phoenix, Jaycee Rodeo Queen one year though most of my horse activities involved Trail Riding. I love the beauty of the Sonoran Desert and led many rides for different saddle clubs and friends.
Three years ago my last horse died at age 34. Since then I hit the trail on foot.
I have always had an interest in the flora and fauna of the Sonoran Desert. I volunteer for Pinnacle Peak Park, the Desert Foothills Land Trust, The Desert Botanical Garden and the Desert Awareness Committee all of which have on-going training to increase volunteer's knowledge of the desert.
I belong to Volunteers for Outdoor Arizona and the Arizona Trail Association and have worked on many of the Hiking/Riding trails in central Arizona.
I lead leisurely hikes stopping to explore and talk about the flora, fauna, archaeology or whatever interests you. During the spring and fall, I also lead a hike that focuses on Native Edible Plants of the Sonoran Desert. Come hungry!
