Dave is caretaker of the historic Humbug mining camp and Pero Bonito gold mine, where he preserves history and conducts mineral sampling and testing. He has been prospecting and researching history in the southern Bradshaw Mountains for over thirty years. Dave loves to tell how minerals were formed in the precambrian granites and schists of the Humbug District, and talk about the pioneers who mined here over 100 years ago. See where they worked and lived and try your hand at prospecting for gold.
When Humbug Creek is flowing, Dave dredges for gold with a 3 in. suction dredge. During the dry season, a recirculating sluice is used.
